Well I have passed my testing!!YEAH...happydance! My bestfriend and I went down on Sunday to say at the Marriott in Ypsilanti MI. It was a very nice place to stay!
So I had many people tell me to make sure you are at the clinic about and hour or so ahead of your appointment. Well I was I got there about 705am and got almost a page read in my book and they wisked me away to the lab to get blood drawn! WOW quick. So 5 tubes of blood later I then got taken to see the nurse and go over my med. history, got weighed and etc. So she then told me to put on this wonderful gown(that was huge on me..LOL) and another lady came in to look at my heart. So she stuck some sticky pads all over my chest, a couple on my legs and a couple on my arms. Heart was great! so got to put my clothes back on, and just as I was finished one more lady came in. She was the respirtory nurse. She checked my lungs and had taught me how to use my Resprix that I will have to use everyday 6-8 times a day up until surgery and then use after surgery. Its pretty neat. Then off to nutritian class. I was very tired at this point, consistantly yawning, but was able to stay away and learn so much stuff. Foods that I thought I would never be able to eat again,I still will be able to eat later on after my 6 week healing. Learning how to read labels properly, and what sugars are good for me and the ones that will hurt me after surgery. This was an hour long or so. By the time I got back to the lobby to wait for Xray, it was 950am. Met a wonderful lady there who is from ON as well. She was with her son who are both having the surgery done Nov.4. All the best to them both.
So after waiting for about a 1/2 hour i was called back to have xrays takin of my lungs I believe or heart or both, then to have an ultrasound down on my gallbladder. Now I found out I have gallstones. I have never had a problem with this as I can remember. But I have the decision to make whether I want it taken out during surgery. So I will be going from laproscopic RNY to open RNY. The recovery time is now 2 weeks instead of a week, and I really dont want to have the surgery open. Ive talked to many and they say it can be taken care of laproscopic as well. So I think I may wait till after surgery and see how I deal with it. If it gets worst then I will have it taken care of in ON. I am still up in the air on to what I will want to do. That was my day. I was finished at 1120am. Very long day.
So everything is a go and ready for surgery!Nov.3 here I come!!!

Hey Kelly,
Just wanted you to know I am reading your blog too and am happy you passed your PATs. I wonder if you can post a little more about the thingy they gave you to use 6-8 times a day until surgery though. What is it for and why do you need to use it?
Thanks, great blog,
Wayne
Hey Kel,
I didn't realize that if you chose to have your gallbladder removed at the same time as your surgery, that you'd have to have it open.
In that case, I would definitely wait and see how it goes after you lose your weight. If you end up needing it done, I'm sure they can use the same incisions.
Just donating my 2 cents LOL.
Hugs,
Dar
